Monroe High School 1977 30 Year Class Reunion

It is with great sadness to share the announcement of a recent death of a former MHS teacher, Mr. Jerry Honeycutt. Jerry Honeycutt was truly an inspirational teacher who taught typing to many of us. He could remember former student names, the names of brothers and sisters--who he also taught and even sometimes the names of our parents. Jerry Honeycutt attended every class reunion party he was invited to and no doubt would be the life of the party. The Monroe High School Class of 77 will be making a Tribute Gift in his honor.

It is with sad news that I write that Paul and Meg Schexnayder's son Michael Thomas Schexnayder 24, passed away Sunday, November 9, 2008. Michael will be remembered by his parents as a son who enjoyed Carolina football, the Atlanta Braves, running, tennis, camping, lifeguarding, the beach. He was responsible, always excelled in school, a leader, a gentle spirit and loving brother. You may send your on-line condolences at www.legacy.com.

Wedding bells were ringing for a class mate. Janet Williams was married May 24,2008. Her husband's name is Wayne Breeding. Congratulations to Janet Breeding and her husband Wayne!

Judy McCoy Long and her husband John sent in a vacation picture of their trip to SeaWorld. Looks like fun.

Check out the class mate in the middle of the picture. It's none other than Gene Vaughn. He's playing at the 75th anniversary of the MHS Band. Go Gene!!
